GateBreakOpen is an open, independent, zero-cost, online-only, AI-assisted publishing space.

It is designed for intellectual content, secondary research, literature reviews, conceptual contributions, methodological reflections, essays, pre-prints, commentaries, notes, open letters, and other non-interventional works.

GateBreakOpen is not a peer-reviewed journal. It does not perform anonymous peer review, does not certify the validity of published content, and does not replace academic journals, scholarly publishers, universities, ethics committees, or institutional systems of validation.

Its role is to offer a public, accessible, and transparent space where authors can make their work available while fully accepting responsibility for it.

A free and responsible space for dissemination

The central idea of GateBreakOpen is simple: authors should be able to make their work visible without unnecessary costs, economic barriers, or exclusive dependence on traditional publishing channels.

Freedom to publish must be accompanied by responsibility, transparency, clear limits, and respect for readers.

GateBreakOpen does not sell prestige, does not promise academic recognition, does not simulate peer review, and does not offer shortcuts to institutional validation.

It offers a declared, zero-cost, and responsible space for the dissemination of non-interventional, secondary, conceptual, methodological, educational, and reflective content.

Why the project was created

GateBreakOpen was conceived as a response to a practical problem: many authors, independent researchers, professionals, students, practitioners, and non-affiliated contributors may have serious reflections, literature-based analyses, methodological ideas, review-style manuscripts, conceptual contributions, or pre-print materials, but do not always have access to conventional publishing channels.

Traditional publication systems may involve costs, long timelines, institutional requirements, publication charges, formatting barriers, and gatekeeping mechanisms that can discourage dissemination, especially for authors outside formal academic structures.

GateBreakOpen was designed as a digital space where access to publication does not depend on academic position, institutional prestige, financial capacity, or formal affiliation.

This does not mean replacing academic journals, peer review, scholarly publishers, or official systems of validation. It means offering a complementary route for online dissemination based on author responsibility, transparency, basic editorial checks, and clearly declared limits.

Secondary and non-interventional work

GateBreakOpen exists to give space to secondary research and non-interventional contributions.

The platform may host literature reviews, narrative reviews, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, umbrella reviews, methodological papers, conceptual papers, theoretical papers, educational papers, professional reflections, essays, commentaries, open letters, pre-prints, evidence summaries, technical notes, monographs, book chapters, and works based on existing sources, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, method, or critical reflection.

The platform does not accept primary research involving direct testing, experimentation, intervention, observation, or new data collection on human beings or animals.

This choice keeps the project clearer, safer, and more coherent in its responsibility structure, while still allowing authors to publish analyses, syntheses, interpretations, and reflections based on existing sources.

The author as owner and manager of the work

GateBreakOpen considers the author the owner, the responsible subject, and the manager of their own work.

An author is not simply a person who writes. An author conceives an idea, organizes it, defines a structure, selects sources, verifies references, decides the final form, manages the public presentation of the work, and accepts responsibility for its consequences.

In this perspective, the author is not a passive provider of manuscripts and is not merely a scribe. The author is the owner, curator, supervisor, and manager of the work.

GateBreakOpen does not appropriate authors’ content, does not claim exclusivity over published works, and does not transform publication into a loss of control over the work.

Publishing on GateBreakOpen means making a work visible and accessible. It does not mean transferring ownership, authorship, responsibility, or intellectual control to the platform.

The author as a manager of digital content

GateBreakOpen recognizes the emergence of the digital author.

The digital author does not merely produce text. The digital author manages ideas, tools, sources, structures, revisions, declarations, metadata, formats, versions, and public dissemination.

Writing, organization, verification, language editing, formatting, archiving, indexing, and publication are increasingly supported by digital tools.

This does not reduce authorship. It changes the responsibilities of authorship.

The author becomes the subject who directs the process, supervises the tools, checks the results, decides what is acceptable, and assumes public responsibility for the final version.

For GateBreakOpen, the modern author is not only a writer. The author is also a content manager, a curator of sources, a supervisor of tools, and a responsible decision-maker.

Tools of the new digital author

GateBreakOpen openly supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence, chatbots, and digital workflows as tools that assist the author.

AI may support brainstorming, preliminary idea generation, organization of concepts, synthesis of materials, identification of connections between topics, structural suggestions, linguistic revision, translation, text organization, formatting, section structure, preliminary reference checking, metadata preparation, improvement of clarity, and technical content management.

For GateBreakOpen, the use of AI is not automatically a threat to authorship. It is a tool.

Like the pen, the printing press, the typewriter, the computer, databases, statistical software, and reference managers, AI belongs to the long history of tools that accompany intellectual production.

AI is a change in the order of history. It is not a minor technical adjustment, but a transformation in the way human beings organize, express, refine, translate, structure, and disseminate knowledge.

AI amplifies only what exists

Intelligence remains human even when part of the process is delegated to machines. Delegating a task to a tool does not remove the intention, judgment, intellectual direction, or responsibility of the person who uses that tool.

AI does not replace human intelligence. It can amplify it, but only when there is something to amplify.

A tool can expand clarity, structure, speed, comparison, language, and organization. It cannot create responsibility, judgment, ethical awareness, or intellectual substance where these are absent.

GateBreakOpen rejects rigid and tool-exclusive views of authorship. Authorship should not be reduced to manual writing alone, nor to dependence on only the tools, methods, and editorial rituals considered legitimate at a specific historical moment.

AI does not own the idea, does not remove human judgment, and does not erase responsibility. The author remains the subject who directs the work, verifies the content, checks the sources, approves the final version, and publicly accepts responsibility for what is published.

Rigor and protection from pseudoscience

GateBreakOpen supports freedom of publication, but does not confuse freedom with absence of responsibility.

The platform does not accept pseudoscientific content, fringe science presented as established knowledge, conspiracy theories, data falsification, source manipulation, plagiarism, invented references, false DOI or PMID identifiers, nonexistent citations, unauthorized images, misleading content, misrepresentation of results, unsupported clinical claims, unjustified alarmism, unvalidated therapeutic theories that may encourage dangerous behavior, defamatory content, discriminatory content, manipulative content, unlawful content, or content incompatible with the platform model.

GateBreakOpen is not peer-reviewed, but this does not mean that it is a space without criteria. Publication is not automatic. Open access does not mean the right to publish anything.

Every contribution must respect minimum requirements of transparency, verifiability, author responsibility, source traceability, methodological clarity, and compatibility with platform policies.

GateBreakOpen may refuse, suspend, request revision, restrict, or remove content that appears misleading, unverifiable, pseudoscientific, conspiratorial, unsafe, defamatory, discriminatory, manipulative, unlawful, or incompatible with the platform model. This is not censorship; it is protection of the platform, authors, readers, and credibility of the project.

Responsibility and intellectual freedom

GateBreakOpen is based on a clear cultural position: intellectual visibility should be supported by author responsibility, clarity of content, traceability of sources, transparency of declarations, and accessibility of the work.

The platform supports knowledge that can circulate without payment barriers and without unnecessary economic obstacles to publication.

It supports intellectual visibility that does not depend exclusively on the name of the institution to which the author belongs.

It supports content that can become public through a declared, transparent, and responsible process, without pretending to replace peer review or institutional validation.

GateBreakOpen does not oppose scholarly publishing, peer review, academic standards, universities, journals, or publishers when these systems operate transparently and responsibly. The platform recognizes their value and does not claim to replace them.

GateBreakOpen is instead opposed to non-transparent editorial practices, unnecessary economic barriers, coercive citation, citation manipulation, informal favoritism, forced editorial alignment, and access to visibility based on closed networks rather than on the clarity, responsibility, and traceability of the work.

Citations, literature, and no favoritism

GateBreakOpen supports a correct relationship with the literature, based on necessary, relevant, and justified citations.

Citations should serve accuracy, attribution, context, and intellectual honesty. They should not be imposed to increase metrics, prestige, or advantage for authors, journals, publishers, institutions, or informal groups.

GateBreakOpen does not impose citations to the platform, to the founder, to internal publications, or to unrelated works as a condition for publication.

The platform supports transparent submission procedures. Authors should not be required to indicate privileged contacts, internal figures, or strategic reviewer names as an explicit or implicit condition for entering editorial consideration.

GateBreakOpen does not require authors to know, name, or please internal figures in order to be considered. It does not sell prestige, promise academic recognition, simulate peer review, or offer shortcuts to institutional validation.

No APC and no publication fees

GateBreakOpen is a zero-cost platform.

It does not require submission fees, publication fees, article processing charges, APC, priority fees, visibility fees, fast-track fees, payments for increased exposure, or costs to access publication.

Free access is an essential part of the project.

GateBreakOpen was created to reduce economic barriers to editorial visibility, not to create new ones.

Not peer-reviewed, but clearly declared

GateBreakOpen does not perform formal peer review. This point must be clear to authors and readers.

Publication on GateBreakOpen does not imply scientific approval, methodological validation, professional certification, institutional endorsement, or a guarantee of correctness.

GateBreakOpen may perform basic editorial checks, such as verifying formal completeness, general readability, required declarations, basic format consistency, and respect for platform policies.

These checks are not peer review and do not transform the content into scientifically certified material.

Readers should interpret each publication as an author contribution, not as an official or validated position of the platform. They are invited to read critically, verify sources, consider declared limitations, and distinguish between reflective, educational, methodological, pre-print, review, essay, and professional contributions.

Ownership, traceability, updates, and summary

Authors remain the owners and responsible subjects of their content. GateBreakOpen does not claim exclusive rights over published works, and authors may later submit, reuse, adapt, or republish their work elsewhere, while independently verifying the policies of third-party publishers.

GateBreakOpen aims to make contributions identifiable, consultable, and organized through dedicated pages, author names, titles, publication dates, versions, annual archives, possible ARK identifiers or other adopted identification systems, essential metadata, and editorial or responsibility declarations.

These elements support consultation and citability, but they do not equal peer review, formal scientific indexing, or institutional validation.

GateBreakOpen may correct, update, or remove content when relevant issues emerge, including formal errors, formatting problems, incomplete information, missing declarations, attribution problems, incorrect references, policy violations, potentially harmful content, justified author requests, or the need to clarify the status of the content.

The principle is simple: the author must be able to publish, but must also be responsible. The platform must be open, but not naive. Access must be free, but not without rules.
